A Brief Autobiography

ℌello, darling. My name – at least, as it’s known here on the Great Big Internet of Things – is Dezy Delaceur (which translates to absolutely nothing and stems entirely for my lifelong username of choice, d3zydration), and this is my personal website. Like all other 90’s babies, I grew up in a much more idealized time. Christmases looked, for the most part, like they did on TV. Pictures were blissfully unaware of the looming threat of Snapchat filters. Weekends smelled like Blockbuster and food courts and cucumber melon. And yes, of course, we had our problems – but underneath it all was this golden-warm optimism for the future that permeated it all. An optimism that is jarringly absent in the modern world. And as I have watched the world I once knew rot and contort into the bizarre dystopia we live in right now, I find myself exhausted. I sometimes joke that I made one wrong step one day and slipped into a parallel dimension that is no longer home. I’m not sure how much I’m joking. Yet, I still fight so hard for hope. For the future we were promised. For beauty and passion and creativity and humanity. And above all else, it is my biggest goal in life to share that hope with all those who are open to it. Everything I do goes toward that goal.
𝓣he website you are on right now is something like a waystation for all those projects. Here, you will find links to my other websites. You will find personal musings and prose of the creative, philosophical, spiritual, and LiveJournal-esque (lovingly dubbed DeadJournal) variety. You will find your way, from here, to every little space I occupy on the internet. What you will not find is condescending SEO-optimized keyword-driven sales pitches. You will not find mass produced AI-generated artwork or writing. And finally, you will not find milquetoast modernism, millennial minimalism, or concrete brutalism. I theorize that it is these things which each contribute greatly to today’s suffering – that it is these things which disease us on a spiritual level and prevent us from breaking past the first two tiers of Maslow’s Hierarchy. We need connection, authenticity, whimsy… It is my hope that my work satisfies those higher needs for others. It is my hope that my work inspires others to do the same.
𝔑ow to share a bit more about myself and my work: I am an Oracle, Philosopher, Creator, and Muse from New Orleans, Louisiana (though, I currently reside a bit outside of the city). I am a very dreamy and passionate person. I love life and I love people, even if the world is a bit strange to be in right now. I love being completely submerged in every experience. I can also be a bit macabre. I have loved goth music and gothic aesthetics from the moment I discovered these things as a child. I am very spiritually sensitive and, surely as a result, I am very interested in the strange and unusual. Likely the most of interest to those exploring my work, however, is that everything you see across my online presence, I have done myself. I have the heart and mind of an academic and consider myself an Eternal Student of the Kosmos. Besides the obvious work I do around here, I have also studied front-end development, multiple languages, property management, marketing, accounting, mycology, theoretical physics, and so much more. All of this as a hobbyist, because I just love to learn. As a result, I have come to run pretty much every aspect of my businesses myself.
𝓐nd there are other ideas I have for the future as my presence and influence grows. I want to have physical storefront someday and employees who can enjoy their jobs without having to set the rest of their lives completely aside. I want to open a particular (secret, for the time being) cafe. I want to develop a particular (secret, for the time being) actually social social media platform. I want to do all of this and maintain who I am and what I love to do all while making a positive impact on the future of human creativity and showing people the kind of treatment they deserve from a business and a public figure. I want to make change. So, without further ado, here are the current things I am currently working on in the journey towards that goal:
𝔉irst, as an Oracle, I maintain my sense of spirituality while helping others to discover their own. All my life, the strange and unusual has chased me and clung to me like damp chiffon – the result the most bizarre and inexplicable gifts or, perhaps, inclinations passed onto me by my family. Over time, I came to accept this and even embrace it, and thus, I became the domestic enchantress, The Witchy Housewife, through which I run an online metaphysical shop and library with affordable prices, loads of freely accessible information, and my intuitive services for those who may feel aligned with my guidance. You can read more about my journey with witchcraft, spirituality, and Khthonic Wicca here. In addition, I offer a monthly energy forecast and pick-a-card reading service (among many other offerings) through my Monthly Blessings Patreon, and I also create subliminals (a form of affirmation work for manifestation or – if nothing else – a positive change in mindset) and relaxing ambience and music mixes through Nightshade’s Auralcraft.
𝓢econd, as a Philosopher, I maintain my sense of curiosity which pries open all the doors and windows of my soul to the existence outside of it. Through a simple habit of always asking questions, I have learned so much about myself and the world around me, and I have come to craft a great deal of theories regarding how we got to where we are now and how we might be able to shift directions toward something better. I refer to one such collection of ideas as the Osmium Age – a Golden Age without the threat of temporal decline. It is the philosophy of chasing the Ideal with a capital I, even if such a thing is impossible to reach – and, for the most part, it involves a deeply honest journey of the self. All ideas which make up this philosophy will be presented here.
𝓣hird, as a Creator, I maintain my sense of whimsy and wonder and, in a society now plagued with automated plagiarized creativity, my sense of humanity, as well. You see, ideas are seeds of potential, figments of the heart, mind, and spirit eager to sprout and be blessed with the breath of life. And my preferred outlet for this is through storytelling and the visual arts. I enjoy penning both fiction and non-fiction, poetry and poetic prose. I like language and metaphor and the way certain sounds feel on your tongue. I enjoy drawing and painting and crafting, with some of my favorite mediums being acrylic gouache, watercolor, marker, and colored pencil. I’m also well-versed in digital art and, more recently, rigging and animation through Live2D. You can find my artwork, my writing, my comics (once they become available), my shop, and information about my commission services over on the Dezydration Station, you can read more about my creative journey here. This is where my online presence began a great many years ago, after all: As an artist, writer, and roleplayer under the username “d3zydration”.
𝔉ourth and finally, as a Muse, I maintain my zest for life and my burning desire to share that experience with others. There was a time in my life I was teased for my tendency to romanticize the beauty of the human experience. Back then, I tucked that part of myself away in conformation of “practicality” and “realism”, and the world was so dull on the other side. It’s in that image that people seem to be building the world we’re in today. In giving myself permission to be myself again, to allow myself to enjoy life and all the human experience has to offer, things have become clearer to me than they ever were before. I want to share this new perspective along with all the insight and ideas it brings forth. I want to inspire people to enrich themselves in body, mind, and spirit. I want them to be their own Oracles, their own Philosophers, their own Creators, and – indeed, perhaps – their own Muse. Life is the flap of a butterfly’s wings in Brazil, and that is the case whether we are conscious of it or not.
𝓐nd so, though life may not be quite so simple right now. It is not any of those things we were promised all our lives that, if we worked really hard and did all the right thing and ticked all the boxes, it would be. This New World does not play by the same rules as our Old World, though perhaps this was in the books all along while we existed blissfully among those early chapters. In any case, though, I will do what I can to make this world a better, more beautiful, more comfortable, more whimsical place once more, and I will encourage others – until I take my final breath – to do the same. Perhaps that is a strange or silly way to be, but I find that I really no longer care, as this perspective is miles better than the lifeless one which is so often forced upon us.
𝓢o, whomever you are, wherever you are: I hope that you’re enjoying your visit to my little world. I hope that you consider sharing my art, my musings, my magick – that you aid me in my quest to overcome the Technocratic Overlords and their Algorithm Gods and the Police of Neverending Pessimism that poisons every facet of popular culture. I hope that you consider engaging with my work on a deep and meaningful and lasting level. And when you leave this place, I hope you go off and create your own beautiful things and speak your own beautiful truths, and I hope so very much that I get the pleasure of seeing them and hearing the. I think your existence is a wonderful thing. I think we can make the world a better place together.
With love,
